New Features in Folks Payroll
Payroll management in Folks keeps evolving, and this release reflects just how complex (and nuanced) real business needs can be. Three major additions to better match your reality.
Multiple Registration Number Management
Operating under multiple distinct companies, or does your business hold more than one registration number? You can now configure all of them within a single HRIS account. No more juggling between separate environments.
Contractor Identification
A new dedicated Contractor status is now available in employee profiles for Folks Payroll. No more confusion between self-employed workers and salaried employees: they get the right compensation treatment, including no source deductions and T4A production at year-end.
Remuneration-Type Custom Fields
HR administrators can now create custom fields linked directly to the Remuneration section of the employee profile. More flexibility to capture the compensation data that actually matters to your organization.
Improvements
Folks HRIS: Performance Reviews
The performance evaluation module received several welcome improvements:
- Toolbox access restriction: Attachments and notes stored in the toolbox can now be restricted to evaluators only — they won’t automatically be shared with the employee being reviewed.
- “All” selection for organizational structures: Target all departments, job titles, or operation sites in one click. New structures created afterward are automatically included, with no manual reconfiguration needed.
- Edit and reorder objectives anytime: Supervisors can now modify or reorder objectives at any time — no need to delete and recreate them.
- Inactive employees hidden by default: The Process Monitoring view now hides inactive employees by default. Less noise, more focus.
Folks ATS
Folks ATS also benefited from brand new releases:
- AI-assisted job description improvement: Recruiters now have access to an AI assistant to improve job descriptions they’ve already written — no need to start from scratch.
- Smoother candidate application submission: A new centered window makes adding a candidate clearer and more intuitive, whether from the Kanban or list view.
⚠️ Upcoming Holidays — Folks Payroll
Check your payroll calendar to plan for the impact of Canada Day. You may need to submit your payroll earlier, or your payroll may be deposited in advance.
Note that provincial holidays, like Quebec’s National Holiday, do not impact money transfers. However, we recommend submitting your payroll in advance on that day to ensure access to support services.
